Rescheduled from 2/14/07 postponed due to weather

The meeting was called to order by President Diana Kroeger at 12:00 noon.   Freda Bromberg led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Collect.  Diana thanked Sylvia Harper, Hollis PTA President, for helping to organize this joint meeting.

Diana explained the Hollis Women’s Club to today’s guests.

Treasurer’s report:  copies of this month’s report are on each table.  The report was accepted and will be filed for audit.

Secretary’s report: copies are on the greeters table for review.

Activities:  copies of the listing of each HWC activity with dates and contacts are on the table.  Diana encouraged members and prospective guests to become involved in an activity as it is the best way to meet and make new friends.

Paul Furlong and her committee as well as PTA members bringing refreshments were thanked for their work and participation.  Panera Bread again donated baked goods for our refreshment table.  Diana asked that we patronize Panera Bread and thank the staff for their continued donations and support of HWC.

Charitable contributions:  This month we are collecting new and gently used books and DVD’s for Fisher House, an organization providing fee or low cost housing to families of patient’s treatment at military medical centers.

Hollis Seniors:  HWC is committed to serving the Hollis seniors the 4th Thursday of the month.  Laurie Miller is organizer for this volunteer program.

Susan Benz reported on a number of outside activities coming up:

Discount tickets to the annual flower show in Boston will be ordered on 2/23/07.               Tickets are $15 each.

Ski day at Mt. Sunapee is planned for March 21, 2007.

June 2, 2007 is the day trip to NYC.  Transportation is a luxury bus leaving the Welcome Center at exit 6.  This event is not exclusive to HWC.  Cost is $55/person.

Strawberry Festival:  Jane Taylor and Diane Raitt reported that the date is June 24, 2007.  A sign-up sheet is at the refreshment table.  Members were encouraged to consider where they would like to help out and sign the sheets.  A new venue for a rain location is being investigated.  Also a new opportunity for visitors to visit a small group of local artisans is being organized as a new tradition for the Strawberry Festival.

Diane Raitt asked members for recipes with anecdotes for new strawberry and apple cookbooks.  These $1.00 booklets are very popular.  Send recipes by fax or email.
