HOLLIS WOMAN’S CLUB GENERAL MEETING

Call to order by president Kaaren Eastman at 1:20 PM.  Club members were welcomed

to the annual luncheon, at the Bedford Village Inn.

 

New members Elen Walker and Michele Gelman were introduced and welcomed to the

Club by Susan Benz.

 

Announcements:

 

Announcements of upcoming activities were made by Ann Shedd.

 

Kaaren Eastman announced that the Woman’s Club will be represented in the Hollis Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30.  Parade participants will meet at the Upper Elementary School at 5:00 PM.  Kaaren is seeking other Club members to march with her in the Parade.

 

The Strawberry Festival will be on Sunday, June 26.  Lynn Wolaver and Susan Benz requested volunteers for the day of the Festival, and for the hulling event on the evening of Friday, June 24.

 

The Hollis Woman’s Club Ball for the Lawrence Barn raised over $26,000.  Kaaren extended thanks to all Club members who were involved with the Ball, and gave special recognition to Committee members Lorie Ball, Kathleen Barnes, Susan Benz, Eve Day, Deb Szok, Nora Lewis, Shawntel Fugate, and Kathleen Rowe.

 

New Business:

 

The Hollis Woman’s Club 100th Anniversary will be celebrated in 2006.  Kaaren asked members to contribute ideas for items for a “100 Give-aways” project, with the Club contributing 100 of some item every month during the centennial year.  She also asked for volunteers for a committee to plan a Centennial Celebration for the spring of 2006.

 

Officers for the 2005 – 2006 year were introduced and installed by past president

Linda Reiner.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 1:45 PM.
