Hollis Woman’s Club General Meeting

 

                                     Wednesday, September 13, 2006

 

Call to order by President Diana Kroeger at 12:00 PM .

 

Collect for Women and Pledge of Allegiance were led by Florine Broden.

 

New members and guests were welcomed by Diana Kroeger. She introduced the new officers for this year and thanked them for their dedication to the Club.

 

Treasurer’s Report was presented by Sheryl Ellis. She announced that the Club’s net from the Strawberry Festival was $2,100, our most profitable year so far. If anyone would like a copy of the Treasurer’s Report, please contact Sheryl.

 

Activity Group Report was made by Julie Forgaard. She listed all the different groups and introduced the chairs for each group. Sign up sheets were available on the table.

 

Diana extended special thanks to Stephanie Stack for updating the yearbook and for her display of the Club’s 100 years. She also thanked Strawberry Festival Chair Ginny Brooks and her Co-Chair Sheryl Ellis and to Susan Benz who chaired the Centennial Celebration Party near the Lawrence Barn.

 

New Business:

 

Diana introduced the Apple Festival Chair Jane Taylor and Co-Chair Kaaren Eastman. More volunteers are needed.

 

A Hospitality Chairperson is needed, and Terry McKillop volunteered to serve. It was also noted that Panera Bread will donate breads and pastries for our 2006-2007 monthly meetings.

 

Volunteers are needed for Old Home Day. The Parade begins at 10:30 AM and help is needed to set-up and man our booths.

 

GFWC-NH District #6 will hold its next meeting on November 4 at the Brookline Community Church in Brookline. Please contact Diana if you are interested in attending.

 

Our December NYC Bus Trip is scheduled for December 2nd. Contact Susan Benz for reservations.

 

Our October’s Centennial Charitable Collection will be gently used sweaters, which will be given to Davis Funeral Home for distribution to those in need. Also, canned items and basic feminine hygiene products will be collected and donated to Corpus Christi Food Pantry.

 

Ways and Means Report was given by Denise Pustizzi. Plans include the selling of Krispy Kremes, the new GFWC-NH cookbooks and blinking lights in our Old Home Day booths.

 

Diana introduced the following members:

 

Christy Gaskill spoke about the upcoming “Brenda’s Walk” to benefit National Ovarian Cancer. Flyers were available.

 

Pam Robbins announced the date and time of the Hollis Village Marketplace Stroll. Flyers were available.

 

Betsy Cotton announced that Hollis Elementary School PTA’s “Adopt A Book” Program is underway. Betsy brought some books for sale. Please contact her for more information.

 

Cindy Robbins-Tsao announced that the Hollis-Brookline Rotary will be sponsoring Cow Patty Bingo again this year during Old Home Day.

 

The next Board meeting will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 4, at Ginny Brooks’ home.

 

The next General meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 11, at Faith Baptist Church. Social hour is at 11:00 AM. Business meeting is at 12:00 PM. Babysitting is available for $5 per family.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.
