Minutes of General Meeting

October 13, 2004

 

Call to Order at 12:10 by President Kaaren Eastman.  The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Collect for Women led by Susan Benz.

 

Welcome was extended to everyone including 3 guests and thanks to Lyn Westberg and her committee for the refreshments. Susan Benz, Membership Chair, introduced new members Pam Robbins and Virginia Martin and presented them with HWC t-shirts.

 

The Recording Secretary’s minutes of the September general meeting were read.

 

There was no official Treasurer’s report.  Kaaren reported that Ways and Means raised $681 at the Apple Festival. The gross amount collected at the Apple Festival was $4700.

 

Kim Dogherty, Chair of Ways and Means, announced two new fund raisers:  gift wrapping at Barnes and Noble on 11/26 and a Tree Lighting on Monument Square. Susan announced that HWC was selling tickets to a charity night at Pheasant Lane Mall 11/21.  Tickets are $10.00; HWC receives $7.00 back.

 

Julie Forgaard, Chair of the Activity Groups, distributed a schedule of upcoming activities and described the groups.  She announced that a Movie Group has been formed with Kathleen Rowe as chairman.

 

Kaaren reported on the GWFC-NH Field Day on 9/25 at Crotchet Mountain.

She extended thanks to Denise Sheridan, Chairman, Christy Gaskill, Co-Chairman, and all the workers for their help at the Apple Festival and

presented thank you gifts to the chairs. She encouraged members to attend the District 6 meeting at Beaver Brook on 10/16  which HWC is hosting.

 

The Culture Coach trip to Newport has been cancelled.  Susan announced that she would try organizing trips via carpool in the future. Kaaren expressed the appreciation of the Club for all the work Susan has put into organizing trips.

 

 

 

 

The Corresponding Secretary, Andrea Seddon, read a thank you note from Allison Stauble for her scholarship and noted that the Club had been thanked for their support of the introductory first grade bus ride in the Hollis Primary Newsletter.

 

Under New Business Kaaren reported that HWC has donated $500.00 to the Jamaican Workers Homestead Relief Fund. In the future minutes of the general meetings will be posted on the Club Web Site under a separate Tab and will be available on the Greeters table for viewing by members not on the internet. As part of the 100th anniversary celebration a new edition of the cookbook will be published. Freda Bromberg will be the chairman.

 

The next Board Meeting will be at Susan Benz home, November 3.

The next General Meeting will be guest night on November 12, at which a magic show will be featured.  The calling committee will contact each member for food for a  Pot Luck.
