HWC 9 Hole Golf Players.  This is a league open to all levels of golfers.  I have put in a request to Ponemah for available tee times.  I requested either Monday, Thurs or Fri mornings around 8:30 and assumed we would have 2 teams of 4 players each.  It would be wonderful to have more, but I would prefer not to over estimate.  Ponemah has not gotten back to me as to days & times.  Please come & join us.  If you have other dates and times to suggest, please let me know.  All info welcome.  Email me at jackanddiane22@comcast.net or call my cell (603) 670-5764.  Can’t wait to hear from everyone.

Morning Book Group

Jan Lambert 465-2443

The Morning Book Group meets on the first Friday of each month, September to June, at 10 am, in the Cafe at Barnes and Noble in Nashua. [ Unless the first Friday falls on a holiday or during  a school vacation] .

We read fiction, non-fiction, new and older books. Members of the group usually suggest the books we choose to read but the Community Relations person at Barnes and Noble and Edie, at the HSL, are also helpful with suggestions. Edie requests extra copies for us each month from the ILL. We do not meet during the summer but choose three books to read and discuss when we resume our meetings in September.
If a book is on a  topic that we are unfamiliar with, or there is not much information about the author on the book jacket, one of the members will research the subject  or author and report on her findings when we discuss the book.
In the past we have attended  authors' book signings at B and N and attended movies made from books we have read. Occasionally, we have met in a member's home during the holiday season.

New members are always welcome.

The Evening Book Club celebrates the holidays at the Mileaway Restaurant!

Evening book club celebrates at Mile Away

This book club is for members who would like to participate in a book club, but who cannot meet during the day. Each month, we rotate leaders and hostesses. The leader is responsible for selecting a book and facilitating a discussion about the book, and the hostess (who is usually the leader as well) is responsible for providing a place to meet and light refreshments. Reading selections vary greatly (which is one of the neat things about this club!) and have ranged from political essays to lighthearted stories -- and everything in between! If you're interested in joining a group that likes to explore all kinds of books -- and "push the envelope" from time to time -- please contact Shawntel Fugate at 791-4352 if you'd like to join this group!

Crafts
Paula Furlong

Creative? Like to socialize? Then the Craft Group is for you! We meet once a month at different members’ houses to have fun for a few hours, visit, and get new ideas. We’ll try any craft, and do something different each month. Most of our craft ideas are easy “anyone can do it” things. We’ve tried etching, quillows, painting, dried flower arranging, ornaments, dream catchers, wood burning, boxes, basket making, paper embossing, bead jewelry, and lots more. If there is something you’ve been dying to learn how to do, maybe we can all learn together! If you know how to do something we haven’t tried, please teach us! New members are always welcome. Contact Paula at 465-6519 to participate.

Walking Group  - NEW!
Kathleen Barnes
465-3926

Are you new to Hollis?  Wondering about all those wooded areas in and around Hollis?  Like to get to know Beaver Brook trails a bit more?  Or are you wishing you had company so you could return to the trails you know and love?  Need to work your hiking muscles without having to drive to the Whites?  Come and join us from 9-11 for brisk Thursday hikes beginning on Beaver Brook Association land.  With hills to scale, rocks to circumvent, brooks to cross, animal tracks to spot, and plants & trees to identify, the physical exercise never gets boring.  The pace will be steady but kind.  All you need is enjoyment of the outdoors, waterproof boots, and a spirit of adventure.  Snowshoes helpful in several inches of snow, of course, but can be rented from Beaver Brook.  Heavy wind, ice, heavy rain and temps below 20 degrees cancel.  Call Kathleen Barnes (465-3926) at least two days before the walk, so we know to expect you.  The trails in our town are wonderful and if you are not walking them, then you are missing one of our great resources.  Try it.  You might like it!

Four Seasons Supper Club

Mary Csakai 465-6282
The Four Seasons Supper Club meets 5 times a year, generally kicking off our year with a cocktail party so that all members, new and continuing, can mix and mingle and get to know one another. Members are usually accompanied by their spouse or significant other, but others choose to attend solo. After that, we meet 4 other times at rotating members' homes.  Each member is asked to host only once every other year, and her committee takes care of all meal preparation.  In anticipation of the dinner, guests assigned to a hostess's home meet with her to create the menu and divide the cooking tasks or arrangements are made by email.  The night of the dinner, the intimate setting fosters an atmosphere of friendship and provides a delectable variety of culinary delights. Costs are divided among the participants.  For more information on this exciting group, call Mary Csakai at 465-6282 or email at mcsakai@charter.net

Especially for those who like to combine great food, friendly people and good times, the Wednesday Luncheon Gourmet Group meets the third Wednesday of each month.  Members of the group share in planning, preparing and hosting luncheons that run the gamut from "picnic casual" to "epicurean elegance".  Luncheons are generally at the home of a group member who, with a committee of three decide the menu and setting and provide wonderful food and great socializing.  Hostesses may also, from time to time, elect to host their luncheon at a local restaurant. Great food and getting together with a super group of women - what could be better?  Please call Terry at 465-2502 to find out more and join us!
